Red, White & Business Ready: April 20
April 20: 55-Day Countdown--Commutes, Customers & KC Access

Give people a reason to stop in Kearney & Holt!
We’re officially 51 days out from the global tournament kickoff (June 11–July 19, 2026). The closer we get, the more people will make last-minute plans—where to stay, where to eat, what to do, and how to fill the hours between activities in Kansas City.
Here’s the opportunity for Kearney & Holt: we’re the easy, comfortable, low-stress option—close enough to KC to be part of the excitement, and far enough to feel simple. And this summer, Kearney isn’t just “near the action”… we’re creating our own.
This week’s goal
Create one clear offer that makes someone say: “Yep—let’s go there.”
Why this matters for Kearney
- When KC gets busy, people often stay local for convenience—meals, errands, and entertainment.
- Visitors staying in our hotels still need breakfast, coffee, dinner, essentials, and experiences.
- Guests will look for “easy wins” close to where they’re staying—not another complicated drive.
This is our moment to be the place that’s easy to choose.
A) The “One Offer” rule (keep it simple)
You don’t need a full campaign. You need one offer that’s:
- easy to explain in one sentence
- easy to deliver without disrupting operations
- easy to say yes to
Think “clarity,” not “complexity.”
B) How Kearney makes the “One Offer” rule EASY this summer (local activations you can plug into)
Here are ready-made reasons for people to come to Kearney—your job is to attach one simple offer to what’s already happening:
1) Kearney Friendship Era Tour (invite to participate!)
This is a perfect “One Offer” platform. If your business is participating, your offer can be as simple as:
- “Friendship Era Special: [one featured item/service]”
- “Tour Stop Deal: [bundle / add-on / small freebie]”
- “Show us you’re on the Tour and get: [simple perk]”
Want in? If your business is running a special, hosting an activation, launching a product, offering a themed item, or doing anything that fits the Tour vibe—send it to the Chamber so we can include it on the Tour pages and in the Visit Kearney app/event landing page.
2) Parade of Hearts
This will draw local attention and broader interest—perfect for that “easy, comfortable” Kearney stop. Tie your one offer to “heart season” with something simple and photo-friendly:
- a featured product
- a limited-time item
- a “take a picture here” moment + small perk
3) Go North KC Watch Parties
Watch parties bring people together, and people who gather also eat, shop, and explore. Your one offer can be:
- “Watch Party Holiday Special”
- “Grab-and-go bundle”
- “Family pack”
4) Jesse James Birthplace (our year-round magnet)
Visitors already come from around the country—and around the world—to experience authentic Americana here. Keep your offer tied to that story:
- “Kearney Original” featured item
- “History-inspired” special
- “Visitor favorite” bundle
Bottom line: Kearney has the reasons. Businesses just need the one clear offer.
C) 10 visitor-ready offer ideas (no discount required)
Choose one that fits your business:
Food & Beverage
- “Quick Bite Combo” (fast + predictable)
- “Late-Night Grab & Go” (if you’re open later)
- “Family Pack” (great for groups)
Retail
- “Host Gift” bundle (candle + card + local item)
- “Road Trip Essentials” shelf (snacks, sunscreen, charger, etc.)
Services
- “Same-Day Ready” appointments (limited slots)
- “Tournament Week Tune-Up” (car care, hair, nails—whatever fits)
Everyone
- “Local Favorites” spotlight (top 3 items/services)
- “Visitor Welcome” QR code to directions + hours + what to expect
- “Ask Us” hospitality moment (best local tips in one place)
D) Your marketing formula (copy/paste)
Post this once on social + once in-store:
“In town this summer? Here’s the easiest win: [YOUR OFFER].
We’re in Kearney—easy in, easy out, friendly service.
Hours: [HOURS].”
(Keep it generic and welcoming—no official tournament branding.)
For Fun: “Thank you” to our KC base camp teams
Kansas City’s metro will host base camps for Argentina, Netherlands, England, and Algeria.
Here’s how to say “Thank you!”
- Argentina (Spanish): ¡Gracias!
- Netherlands (Dutch): Dank je wel!
- England (English): Thank you!
- Algeria (Arabic / French): شكراً (Shukran) / Merci !
A little effort goes a long way—gratitude is universal.
This week’s one action (do it today)
Pick ONE offer and write it as a one-sentence sign. Then post it once online and once in your business.
Business participation invite: If you’re doing anything for the Friendship Era Tour, Parade of Hearts, Cleats & Beats watch party, or a Jesse James-themed feature—send details to the Chamber so we can promote it in the app and on the tour pages.
See the below Resources & Information section for other ways to list your business.
