  • Home of Jesse James

    Born on a Kearney farm in 1847, Jesse James went from preacher’s son to outlaw icon — come see where this Suburban Legend began.

    While walking through the restored childhood home of Jesse and Frank James, you’ll feel like you’ve taken a step back in time. Visitors first tour the Jesse James Museum, home to the world’s largest collection of James family artifacts. After watching a brief film on the life and exploits of the infamous brothers, you will follow a winding trail to the humble cabin where the legend began. Jesse James’ original burial site was at the farm, his tombstone still remains, but his body has since been relocated to Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Kearney,

    Missouri. You can visit Jesse’s grave. He is buried beside his wife, Zee.

  • Market at the Park

    Beginning Thursday, May 28, Market at the Park is coming to Lions Park every Thursday from 4–7 p.m. through September 3.

    Enjoy an evening outdoors with local vendors, food trucks, farm-fresh produce, handcrafted goods, and more. Kids can cool off at the Splash Pad or enjoy the playground while you shop and explore the Market.

    There is plenty of public parking available within a short stroll of the Market, and we encourage everyone to stop into and support Kearney’s local downtown businesses while you’re there. From shopping and dining to local services and unique finds, our downtown businesses help make Kearney special.

    Bring your family, meet your neighbors, and spend your Thursday evenings at Lions Park this summer.

    Dinner and a Movie Under the Stars: "Food and Flick Fridays" Returns to Lions Park

    Pack your blankets and bring your appetite! The City’s beloved summer tradition, Food and Flick Fridays, is back at Lions Park for the 2026 season. This family-friendly event series combines hit movies with local flavor, featuring a rotating selection of premier food trucks at every screening.

    Each event kicks off in the evening, with films beginning at dusk. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to grab a prime spot on the lawn and enjoy dinner from the featured food truck of the night.

    2026 Movie Lineup:

    June 12: The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants

    June 26: Barbie

    July 31: Lilo and Stitch

    August 14: Superman

    Admission to all films is free. Attendees should bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. In the event of inclement weather, updates will be posted at KearneyMo.us and our social media pages.

    Businesses participate at their own expense. There is no Chamber-managed campaign kit required.

  • Can I update my offer later?

    Yes. We want the page and app to reflect current activations whenever possible.
