Small Business Season is here, and we want to help spread the word to support local! November 1 through December 31, the Kearney Chamber will once again celebrate Small Business Season as part of our Shop Local Kearney initiative.
One of the things I love most about Kearney is the way our local businesses are woven into the fabric of our community. They're the familiar faces who greet us, the places where we gather, and the neighbors who step up when someone needs a helping hand. They are part of what makes Kearney such a special place to live, work, and do business.
Behind each of those businesses is someone who chose to invest their time, talent, and dreams right here in our community. They hire our neighbors, support local causes, and show up for this community without expecting a spotlight.
As we head into Small Business Season, I hope you’ll take a moment to think about the local businesses that make a difference in your life. Maybe it’s where your family gathers for dinner, where you found the perfect last-minute gift, or who helped you solve a problem you couldn’t tackle on your own.
This year’s Small Business Season theme is “It’s the Thought That Counts.” It’s a reminder that supporting local can begin with one small thought: Who do I know who might love this place or need this service?
Tell them. Share the post. Leave the review. Thank the owner who stayed open a few extra minutes or the employee who made a difficult day easier. And when you’re making a purchase or looking for a service, consider a local business first.
Those things may feel small, but to the person on the receiving end, they can mean a new customer, a needed connection, or simply the encouragement to keep going.
At the Kearney Chamber, we’re proud to spend Small Business Season, November 1 through December 31, celebrating the people and businesses that make our community special. Throughout November and December, the Kearney Chamber will celebrate Small Business Season by sharing our members' holiday events, special offers, gift ideas, and other ways to support local businesses through our Shop Local Kearney, Visit Kearney and Chamber communications. We invite you to follow along, share your favorite local finds, and make Kearney businesses your first thought when shopping, dining, or looking for services this holiday season.
I love this community for many reasons, but one of my favorites is the way we show up for one another.
Let’s carry that spirit with us throughout the season from thought to action and let our local businesses know how much they mean to us.
