Kearney Chamber - Who We Are

The Chamber has started a new program - each month we will feature a Business of the Month. A drawing is held at every General Meeting (1st Wednesday of every month, 12:00-1:00, Annunciation Community Center). The business card that is picked from that drawing will be featured on our Website, receive a free ad in the Kearney Courier, in our monthly newsletter, and have a special display table at our meetings. All Kearney Chamber members are welcome to enter the drawing.

This month, Summit Publications, Inc. was chosen. Here is the interview:

Please tell us what Summit Publications does.

Summit Publications produces 15 “Community Focused” Telephone Directories in and around the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. We are a family owned Independent (non-utility owned) Yellow Page Publisher based in Kearney, Missouri.

Where are your offices located?

The current corporate headquarters location at 404 S Jefferson was established in April of 2006. At that time we moved from our original location a few doors down from John’s Super, where we began operations in 2003. We also maintain a separate satellite office in Overland Park, Kansas.

How long has Summit Publications been in business?

The company was founded in March of 2003 and acquired Blue Valley Publications, Inc. three months later. Six telephone directories were originally acquired from Blue Valley. Of those, five remain in production, one has been sold and ten new directories have been added to our repertoire.

Please tell us a bit about your staff there.

We currently maintain an office staff of 12 employees at the Kearney location, along with 27 outside Sales Professionals. Summit is proud of the fact that we offer the community of Kearney and the surrounding areas an excellent employment opportunity. Eight of our office team members live in Kearney with their families and one is a long-time Holt resident. The three remaining employees live in Smithville, Liberty and Kansas City.

Exceptionally team-oriented, we work together to accomplish our objectives in the most efficient manner, utilizing each person’s abilities to the best effect and assisting each other in whatever capacity is needed. This depth of knowledge and commitment enables us to service our customers with the highest degree of professionalism and expertise.

What would you say is unique about your business?

Summit’s business has grown steadily as a result of the successful advertising campaigns we have created for our customers; each tailored to the specific needs of our clients by our talented in-house ad department. Our unique ability to give each customer the personalized attention they deserve translates into growth for their business as well as ours.

What do you see in the future for Summit Publications- any big projects?

To us, the directories we produce approximately every three weeks are ALL big projects! We have a joke around the office that whenever a new directory comes in we feel like a new baby has been born!
