Looking for a way to use those extra holiday lights and decorations, while spreading a little holiday joy in the community?
Decorate a tree at the Kearney Amphitheater Pavilion in Jesse James Park, 3001 N. Highway 33, for the 11th annual Mayor’s Christmas Tree Walk.
During the actual event from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, the lights will be turned on and the community is invited to walk the trail in the park.
In addition to the tree walk, there will be entertainment and refreshments (cookies, hot chocolate, and coffee) throughout the evening. The festivities will culminate with a visit from Santa at the Kearney Amphitheater Pavilion.
This event is open to anyone who wants to decorate a tree: Schools, groups, churches, families, clubs and businesses. The city will provide the tree and electricity, and decorators need to provide the lights, extension cords, and decorations. No prizes will be awarded.
While the initial deadline to sign up to decorate a tree has passed, you can still get on the list by contacting Eric Marshall at 816-903-4724 or Ryan Marcotte at 816-903-4730. You can also click here to fill out the registration form.
Note: All decorations must be taken down after January 1. Anything left behind by January 10 will be discarded.
